Tournament Format and Rules

  • Click here to see the Covid-19 Guidelines for this tournament.
  • All games will be six ends in length. In the event of a tied game, an extra end will be played.
  • WCF rules will dictate the playing of all games.
  • Practice will start at the time stated. Teams named first will practise first. Practice time is 6 minutes.
  • Teams named first will play the 'dark' stones - red rocks. Teams named second will play the 'light' stones - yellow rocks.
  • There is a Round Robin in the Girls and Boys events, in the event of the same win/loss record the winner of the two in their game will be ranked first.
  • A played rock hit or touched with a broom or foot is burnt! The opposing team gets the option on what to do with it

Girls Competition

  • Hammer will be given to the team listed first. As it is a double Round Robin, there are two games against each team, so each team has a turn at hammer over the two rounds.
  • Because there is a double Round Robin if a team goes through unbeaten, they will automatically win the gold medal.
  • During the first day of the girls' competitions, teams will take part in a Draw Shot Challenge. This will occur after one of their games. A Draw Shot Challenge is when all four members of the team have a turn at throwing one stone each. The best three stones are counted. This result may be used to help team rankings.

Boys Competition

  • Hammer will be decided by a last stone draw shot (LSD) at the end of each practice. This is when two players from each team have one 'clockwise' and one 'anti-clockwise' draw shot.
  • If a team goes through undefeated, they will still play off in semi-finals and finals.
  • The Mixed Teams and the Boys Teams are in a Round Robin together; however only the games played in their own section will count towards points for the finals

Mixed Competition

  • When playing the other mixed team, hammer is decided by the team listed first because it is a double round robin.
  • When playing against the boys' teams, hammer is decided by the draw shot at the end of each practice.
  • If either team wins both mixed competition games, then they automatically win the gold medal.

Good luck and Good curling!
