2 Oct 2024 – The Otago Boys High School team of Freddie Hore, Tom Bankshaw, Mason McCreanor and Xavier Connell are the 2024 NZ Secondary Schools curling champions, beating Maniototo Area School in the final of the three-day tournament in Naseby.

Eight teams entered and played a preliminary round robin to rank the sides. Both of the finallists dropped one game on their way through, with Bayfield Burlers claiming a low-scoring match 4-2 against Maniototo, who in turn had a one-sided win over Otago Boys.

Columba College and the Bayfield side both had 4-3 win-loss records to qualify for the bronze medal match.

In the gold medal match, Otago jumped out to an early 7-0 lead and went on to maintain that margin and claim the title 10-3. The Columba Doves held off a late surge from Bayfield to win the bronze 6-5.
