Tournament Format and Rules

  • Welcome and Team meeting will be held at 1.45 pm on Friday, 23rd September, for the first two teams playing in the first round, and 6.45 pm for the remaining two teams.
  • The NZCA will run competitions in accordance with the procedures and processes set out in the NZCA Tournaments Procedures Document. All games will be played under the guidelines of WCF rules.
  • To allow for ice preparation, no team is allowed to practice on the ice later than 3 pm on Thursday, 22nd September. No team may use the NZCA Competition Stones for practice.
  • First practice will commence at the start time stated on the draw.
  • For the first round, there will be a coin toss for the first practice. After the first round, first named teams have first practice and play with dark handles (red)
  • Each team will have a 6-minute pregame practice, followed by LSDs. Each team is to deliver a draw shot, the first clockwise and the second counter clockwise. The draw shot is to be shared amongst all players. The LSD will decide which team has hammer on the first end.
  • All games are eight ends, with a minimum of six ends to be played. Extra end(s) will be played if scores are tied after the eighth end.
  • There will be a four-minute break after the fourth end.
  • At the completion of the rounds, teams will be ranked for the playoffs, with the WCF ranking procedure (C9) being used to separate teams on the same win-loss record.
  • Playoffs: The 2nd ranked team will play the 3rd ranked team in a semi-final, and the winner of that match will play the 1st ranked team in the Championship final.
