15 Jul 2013 – Upsets and comebacks were the order of the first two days at the New Zealand Curling Championships in Dunedin this weekend.

NZ Senior Women's skip Wendy Becker led her team of Brydie Donald, Kelsi Heath and Kathy-Jo Dobson to a 9-1 win in the deciding game of their best-of-five final series. The silver medal went to the young Auckland four of Chelsea Farley, Thivya Jeyaranjan, Tessa Farley and Eleanor Adviento.

2013 NZ Mixed Fours winners

5 Jul 2013 – Iain Craig and his side successfully defended their 2012 NZ Mixed Fours title when they won the 2013 Championship at the Paradice Avondale rink during Queen's Birthday weekend.

Craig, with Brianne Koning (replacing Tessa Farley from 2012), Josh Dallow and Holly Gosse, were undefeated through pool play – albeit only just on occasion. They became more fluent at the end of the tournament though, and were convincing winners of the gold medal game.

2013 Karuizawa

24 Apr 2013 – The build-up to December's Winter Olympics qualifier for the New Zealand Men's curling team started in Japan last weekend at the Karuizawa International Championship.

Skip Peter de Boer described their fourth placing as "a slightly disappointing finish as we had every chance of winning the event. However we had 7 games against strong opposition giving us plenty to work on over the coming months."

19 Jul 2012 – The National Selectors have named the New Zealand National and Junior (Under-21) sides for the 2012 / 2013 season.

This was a much-anticipated announcement following the shock loss of the 2011/2 Men's team to the NZ Senior Men's side in the National Championships earlier in the month. The NZ Men had finished 5th at the World Men's Championship in Switzerland just 3 months earlier.

20 Apr 2013 – New Zealand curlers will bring home their first ever medal from a World Senior Championship.

The Senior Men's side of Hans Frauenlob, Dan Mustapic, Lorne DePape, Allan Langille and Pat Cooney have won the silver medal at the 2013 tournament in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada.

11 Apr 2013 – The pathway to 2014 Winter Olympic qualification has been confirmed for the New Zealand Men's Curling team. They will compete at an 8-team Olympic Qualifying Event event in Füssen, Germany in December, and the top two nations from that event will earn the final two berths at Sochi next year.

Ten teams will compete at the Winter Olympics in Sochi next February. The Russian hosts are automatic entrants, as are the seven teams with the most qualifying points from the 2012 and just-completed 2013 World Men's championships - Canada, Sweden, Scotland (for Great Britain), Norway, Denmark, China and Switzerland.

2 Jul 2012 – Peter de Boer's New Zealand representative side finished 5th at the World Men's Curling Championship in April this year. They were unbeaten through pool play at the NZ Championships over the weekend, and hot favourites as they went onto the ice for the final.

But the current NZ Senior Men's champion side of Hans Frauenlob, most of them 2006 Winter Olympians, had other ideas as they lined up in Naseby on Sunday afternoon.

17 Jan 2013 – The New Zealand Junior Men's curling team will be returning home from the Pacific-Asia Championships with bronze medals, equalling the best-ever finish by a Kiwi side at this under-21 event. Their 5 win - 4 loss record included one win against Korea and two each against Japan and Australia.

But the Korean side eventually proved their undoing, beating the NZ side 7-3 in their semi-final. China went on to beat Korea for the gold medal.
