17 Oct 2019 – Stonehenge backed up their 2018 success when they won the Auckland Curling League final against top qualifiers My Name is Curl last weekend.

Both teams were playing without their regular thirds, as Benjamin Frew (Stonehenge) and Kieran Ford were on international duty for NZ at the World Mixed Championship in Aberdeen.

After the Stonehenge trio of Garion Long, Kieran Grieve and Rebecca Treacy conceded a single in the first end, they got their noses in front with a double in the second and followed that up with a steal in the next.

10 Oct 2019 – Garion and Rebecca Long won a short and sharp 2019 Auckland Mixed Doubles Championship at Paradice Avondale last Sunday.

With the reality of ice hire costs making a traditional round-robin format unviable, the 8 teams competing started the evening with a random draw to find their opponents for the three preliminary four-end games.

After the preliminary rounds the Longs had a perfect 3-from-3 record, as did Sasha Goloborodko and Nikita Derevianko, so it was these sides who met in the final.

Winter is coming

Auckland Curling invites you to come along to Paradice Avondale on Sunday 5th and/or 12th May, and give it a go.

17 Oct 2018 – The Stonehenge team of Garion Long, Benjamin Frew, Kieran Grieve and Rebecca Treacy are the 2018 Auckland Curling champions after a 9-2 win over last year's winners, Cleansweep, in last Sunday's Premier League final.

The side also won the Auckland's Round Robin trophy and the Big End award.

In the semi-finals a week earlier, Chelsea Farley's Cleansweep had beaten Iain Craig's Rockers, while Stonehenge headed off the fast-improving Penguins skipped by Sasha Golborodko.

30 Oct 2017 – Auckland Curling Club celebrated its coming of age in style over Labour Weekend, with a 21st Jubilee dinner on Saturday night, and then a bonspiel on Sunday evening and Monday morning.

Old friendhips were rekindled amongst the 40 guests who enjoyed Saturday evening's dinner at the Remuera Club. A slideshow of photos from 1996 to the present day entertained all, and sparked much comment on the change of colour (and quantity) of some of the hairstyles on display.

10 Oct 2017 – A fortnight after winning the Auckland Club Championship with their Cleansweep team, Chelsea Farley and Ryan Lewis collected more silverware when they scooped the 2017 Auckland Mixed Doubles title.

Six doubles teams (four of them mixed teams) played an abbreviated round robin through the evening, with short games of 3 or 4 ends.

With the final round left to play, three sides held a 3 win - 1 loss record: Pauline Farra / Ian Ford, Ben Frew / Garion Long and Farley / Lewis.

27 Sep 2017 – Cleansweep made it back-to-back titles, and 3 in the last 4 years when they beat Rockers in Auckland Curling's 2017 Premier League final last Sunday.

In the semi-finals a fortnight earlier, Cleansweep had beaten John Allen's Diamonds while Rockers headed round robin winners Stonehenge, skipped by Garion Long.

A succession of single point ends in this week's final was broken with a 3 in the sixth end to Rockers. But Cleansweep (Chelsea Farley, Ryan Lewis, Tessa Farley, Kate Smirnova, Lisa Wu and Marie Tsai) then replied with a decisive 5-pointer, and went on to steal the last to win 9-5.
