2 Nov 2009 – In a memorable finale to the 2009 season for Auckland Curling, it took an extra end at Paradice Avondale on Sunday night to find a winner for the Auckland Club Championship. The lead changed five times between A.R.S.E. (Kenny Thomson, Bill Howie, Daniel De Vries, Denise Thomson, Jeremy Fourie) and Global Cooling (Alex Bauer, Nick Lambert, Greg Prendergast, Shaun Alexander, Anne Huddleston).

27 Oct 2009 – Charlie McLeod's Dunedin team have taken the honours in the 2009 Auckland Open Bonspiel at Labour Weekend, beating the local Team Bauer 8-5 in a thrilling see-saw final.

19 Oct 2009 – There were nervous moments for both top qualifiers in Auckland Curling's semi-finals at Paradice Avondale last night. However Alex Bauer's Global Cooling and the A.R.S.E. four of Kenny Thomson eventually confirmed their places in the championship final to be held in a fortnight's time.

13 Oct 2009 – The semi-final lineup was confirmed – nearly – after the 15th and last draw of round robin games in the Auckland Premier league at Paradice Avondale last Sunday.

As teams have come to expect, there were the usual number of games that didn't go quite according to the form book as three of the leading six sides lost to teams further down the leaderboard.

8 Sep 2009 – Only four of 15 rounds remain in the round robin stage of Auckland Curling’s Premier League competition, and the race for semi-final positions is well and truly hotting up.

Global Cooling (Alex Bauer, Nic Lambert, Greg Prendergast and Shaun Alexander) have a handy 4 point buffer over the field and appear to have booked themselves a spot in the semis.

3 Aug 2009 – The result was in doubt until the last stone, but Alex Bauer's Global Cooling side beat Granite 6-2 to remain at the top of the leaderboard halfway through Auckland Club league.

Just behind them on the table A.R.S.E. and Waikato Rockers had comfortable wins to remain two points behind, and Jacksons stole the last for a 7-6 triumph over Altitude to move into the top four for the first time this season.

21 Jul 2009 – After seven of the 15 rounds in section play of the Auckland Curling Premier League the leaderboard is still congested near the top. There is just a two-point spread covering the teams ranked from second to eighth.

20 Jul 2009 – Auckland Curling used the Schenkel scoring system for the first time in its 2009 Open and Mixed Doubles Tournament last night – but it wasn't needed to find a winner. Haymon Keeler and Katie Bauer took the trophy in the "traditional" manner by winning all of their games.

The Schenkel system – ranking teams by wins, then ends, then shots scored to determine who plays who in each round and then an overall winner – was introduced in anticipation of a 10-team competition which wouldn't have allowed a normal knockout. In the event, 8 doubles combinations took to the ice and, prior to the final round, three sides were still in contention for the title.

13 Jul 2009 – Results in the sixth round of the Auckland Club championship on Sunday 12 July showed little respect for reputation or table rankings. A number of middle and lower ranked sides had good wins against teams higher up the ladder.
