2013 MCI camp

17 Jul 2013 – The July Junior camp at Naseby's MCI rink was deemed both enjoyable and successful by both the coaches and athletes involved. Over 30 junior curlers attended, thanks to a late influx of applications from Dunedin.

Skills and ages ranged from a couple of very enthusiastic 10 year olds (whose understanding belied their years) to more seasoned Under-21 international players.

Head coach Peter Becker was well assisted, at different times, by 6 other coaches. Local parents pitched in by assisting with billeting some of the particpants.

New Zealand reps Brydie Donald, Scoitt Becker and Rupert Jones have reinvigorated the schools program in Dunedin this year. With the huge upsurge of involvement there – over 50 new curlers – another camp is being considered for Dunedin later in the season. Watch this space for details.
